BIG LOVE: "Sins of the Father"

Original Air Date
February 7, 2010

Description
Bill pulls out all the stops in his efforts to win Paleyʼs support for the state senate nomination, while Nicki (Chloë Sevigny) relishes her role as his campaignʼs “secret weapon.” Marilyn makes a pitch to represent the casinoʼs interests in Washington, but encounters resistance from Tommy. Frank picks an inopportune moment to drop by the casino with Lois and Jodean. Bill absorbs a last-minute sucker punch from Colburn, but turns the tide by embracing the Lost Boy in himself.

Notes
(A) Great episode. The tension builds. They have certainly added some high quality guest stars this season. Sissy Spacek as Marilyn the D.C. lobbyst and Adam Beach as Tommy Flute at the casino have been great additions. Tommy's back story, his family being killed by a drunk driver, has made him a lot more interesting to the viewer and to Barb. Is Barb heading toward an affair?

Similarly, although I think this is highly unlikely, what if Bill and Marilyn were to become intimate, fourth wife possibilities? That would just be so odd and grand in nature. I can't see that coming to fruition because the characters hate each other, but it is fun to think about.

Instead, Marilyn is likely the person that will derail Bill's campaign to become a state senator. In any case, there are a lot of moving pieces this season. The story line with Bill and his son, Benny, was especially good. It shed some light on Bill's past and the ugliness that happened to him as a boy being exiled from the compound. Bill's brother, Joey, went through the same childhood and was especially poignant in this episode.

Overall I thought the drama was excellent. What's next?

  2. Thanks. Yeah Burn Notice is great. You should check up on the first few seasons. It is a fun show. I always watch it in bunches when they run all the episodes together on weekends and such. I really like the USA Network Lineup in general.

White Collar, Psych, Royal Pains are all fantastic shows.
